The Ghost with the hammer
It was Wednesday night , in Macaris . Outside a filthy rainy London night battered at our door .
Inside we were unpacking a new delivery of Revelation guitars .
We were somehow getting used to the innovation , the cool colours and the amazing value but we were not quite ready for this one .
For years I had read about a guitar that Leo Fender had built before the Jazzmaster - called the Marauder - it looked like a Jazzmaster but the pick ups were hidden away under the scratchplate - I'd only ever seen drawings of it !
Here was a tribute to that very instrument but not by Fender - by our favourite budget busting guitar brand - Revelation .
The Ghost - an offset body guitar in bright white , immediately we were struck with its pure lines and lack of fuss . Plug it in and it delivered fat jazz tones - searing rock sounds and an amazing array of funky out of phase sounds courtesy of the amazing Entwhistle tone circuit ( not the rotary control as well as the pick up selector )
We've been haunted by it ever since
