Hofner Committee c1957 with DeArmond Rhythm King

so here's the thing

This is the culmination of a few great things coming together , a bit of luck , a bit of genius and a lot of legwork .

The bit of luck was us winning this guitar at an auction when we were meant to be bidding on an entirely different item !

But - it was sat on its stand looking beautiful and in need of a bit of proper guitar love - it was calling to us - so , we went for it .

It sounded great acoustically from the off , there were just a few dead spots and there was no pick up

In fact this guitar began its life in Germany as an acoustic archtop  way back in 1957 , but at some point in its life it had had a pick up - the output jack was still there .

It was that that made me think of an old DeArmond Rhythm King that I'd been keeping for years for just such a project .

So off it went to Knight guitars , the British luthiers who brought us some of the greatest British jazz guitars in existence .

Rob ( grandson of founder Dick Knight ) did all the work .

It came back playing like a dream , with a newly built scratchplate , the DeArmond professionally fitted , a fret dress and polish got rid of those dead spots and now

it is now the best Committee we have ever encountered .

The icing on the cake was the amazing case you can see - it fits so perfectly you'd think it was made for the guitar - we'd had that stashed away for ages as well !

So - there you have it - it was meant to be !

We are so happy to have this one in stock - a VERY special guitar
